Our new partnership with HAY reimagines Sonos One with the Danish brand’s contemporary approach to colour, exploring the relationship between sound and design in the home.

For Sonos, design has always been a multisensory endeavour. Sure, we’re obsessive about crafting the ultimate room-filling sound experience, but we care just as much about the way our products fit into people’s lives visually. So it’s only natural that we recently undertook a unique collaboration with the Danish design brand HAY.

Today we’re excited to announce the first result of this partnership: the HAY Sonos One Limited Edition Collection, a set of speakers that reimagines the Sonos One in a new range of colours – red, yellow and green – taken from HAY’s 2018 palette. Together, HAY and Sonos are exploring the relationship between sound and colour in the home.

“Our speakers aren’t designed to claim attention, but to blend naturally into their surroundings,” says Sonos VP of Design Tad Toulis. Even with the addition of colours to the typically black-and-white Sonos product line, the new HAY Sonos One still manages to maintain that aesthetic subtlety.

A leader in home design, HAY is internationally renowned for their contemporary yet accessible aesthetic, sophisticated manufacturing and bold use of colour. “Colour is one of the most important tools in the design process, and it was very important we didn’t just create a colour scale that looked beautiful,” says HAY co-founder and creative director Mette Hay. “Colours can hide completely and disappear, or provide contrast.”

“These speakers deserve to be treated like furniture: strong, independent objects that fit different needs and spaces,” says Hay. By leveraging HAY’s singular approach to colour, this limited edition collection fully realises the Sonos philosophy of ‘sonic architecture’ and harmonises both brands’ ability to create products that can transform a home.

Shop the HAY Sonos One later this year on sonos.com, at Sonos flagship stores in NYC and Berlin, and at the HAY House in Copenhagen. Follow Sonos on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter or subscribe to our newsletter to be notified when the collection becomes available.
